As a child I was  surrounded by  animals. I learned to ride horses when I was two yrs old and from then on animals ruled my life. I was encouraged by my grandmother who could see my passion for all things furry or feathered. It was in early childhood that I had my first Whippet, a beautiful white  girl with red fawn mask and  a  patch over her rear end. I  named her   Pearl.  Most of my childhood was spent in idyllic  country surroundings on the family farm,  adventures with Pearl  filled my weekends and  school holidays. Pearl was my best friend. I loved her dearly -   years later   when she  went to rainbow bridge I would sit by her grave  every day after school. Life was so empty without her I thought my heart would break. I never had another pet again until many years later when I  had my own children. Then I set about  filling the empty space in my heart that Pearl had left. Once you have had a Whippet nothing else compares and one is never enough!

I was very lucky to be allowed to purchase Savilepark Nadhezda Solitaire(Tansy), a 5 yr old particolour   bitch and her grandson Savilepark Stormin Norman (Storm)  Thanks to  Barbara Robinson for allowing me to have them. It was and still is,  quite difficult to acquire a Whippet let alone two at once!   They produced  my first  litter of  puppies , from  which Acornlodge Passionate Affair(Caress) was  produced, a white girl with fawn patches  who was  so in your face and self important it wasn't real!

Then I was hooked! I then was allowed to purchase Sleepyhollow Game On (Peggy)  a white bitch with red patches!! I felt complete, my home was once again full of  animals and my heart mended to a  degree. My  cats weren't impressed though!   Although Storm was  a super dog temperament to die for, etc. I  set about finding another stud dog.  I have never been at ease with  close breeding so I looked for a total outcross and I found it in my superb boy Chapliegh Make A  Beeline to Acornlodge bred by Malcolm Rankine and Stephen Mc Morrow. Ricky had qualified to Crufts so it was agreed I would take him home and  then Stephen would show him for me at Crufts.

Tansy and Ricky then produced  a litter  and  the foundations of Acornlodge were firmly set Ricky and Caress also produced a superb litter from which Acornlodge  Enchantment was  produced. The lines in my pedigrees are   Hillsdown, Birkonbrae, Dumbriton, a dash of Nevedith

I made a lot of friends through showing and one in particular who rang me one day and said she knew where there were two beautiful adult girls looking for a home together. It was then that I acquired A Rose for you from Millpoint (Kayleigh) and Dancing Lily of Acornlodge (Fallon).

Rose for you from Millpoint (Kayleigh) and Dancing Lily of Acornlodge (Fallon).

They were full sisters Kayleigh was a stunning dark brindle and Fallon was a lemon fawn with a black mask. So Acornlodge now had solid foundations from which to build. Kayleigh and Fallon settled really well, in no time they were part of the family. Kayleigh did really well in the show ring and Fallon was the stay at home type. Both girls had litters with Ricky and it proved to be an excellent match. They are now grand parents and the legacy goes on. All their babies that have been shown have qualified for Crufts first time out.
